9̶0̶1̶ 911: a brief

We have just finished our first week back at Cocomats, and it has been wonderful to read all the emails from happy customers. With the whirlwind of the holidays behind us, we look toward 2024 with a grateful heart and an optimistic view of the future. A wise person once said, “You can’t drive the car looking in the rearview mirror,” but on the other hand, it is also said that sometimes the bright light at the end of the tunnel is a train. We don’t need any trains here, just clear vision as we forge ahead in the village called Cocomats, on the land called Zimmer Business Park, in the town of Fort Mill, where Fed Ex and UPS drivers know us by name and often beep in passing: Yes…that’s Fort Mill, SC!

Since we started making Cocomats, the Porsche 911 has consistently been our number one seller. There are some great fun facts about this car that are interesting to read. The first one is that it was originally named the “901”; however, Peugeot had a trademark on “Digit-Zero-Digit” named models, so it was re-named “911.” Only 110 Porsche 911s are manufactured daily in the Stuttgart, German factory. That’s crazy when you think we produce a lot of mats for these cars! It makes you realize that good things come in small batches. There are also 16 different versions of the Porsche 911.

Launched in 1972, the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 was the leading 911 model with its sporty look and iconic “duck-bill” rear end and spoiler. During the 70s, Porsche planned to replace the 911 with the new 928, but employees and the general public were outraged, so the CEO kept the 911 and decided to keep improving it. Consequently, by 2011, about 90% of the Porsche 911 was new or completely redesigned.

According to the Dupont Registry, “The newest and most expensive model in Porsche’s current fleet is the 2023 911 Sport Classic, which is limited to only 1,250 sold-out cars with a starting price of $272,300.”

So whether you have a Porsche 911, a Prius, a Volvo, or your grandad’s Plymouth, a set of Cocomats is the finishing touch for any vehicle. Here’s to 2024 and all the possibilities that lie ahead for all of us!
